Background
Scott joined the firm in 1993 and has over 15 years of experience in retirement plan actuarial administration. Scott’s primary responsibilities include actuarial services to defined benefit plans.
Areas of Specialty
- Serves as Consultant and Enrolled Actuary for medium to large employers sponsoring qualified and nonqualified defined benefit plans
- Prepare and review FAS106 and GASB45 valuations of post-employment benefits other than pension benefits
- Responds to clients’ requests in a variety of areas, including participant questions and technical issues
- Member of the Management Team, which coordinates consistent client services, seeks to strengthen client relationships and develops our internal staff to be the best team possible to focus on services to our clients
- Manager of the firm’s Actuarial Team, which is responsible for all actuarial services provided by Markley Actuarial
- Captain of the firm’s Technology Team, which supports the firm in the area of technology by leading and managing the initial research and implementation of new technologies and maintaining and supporting existing technologies
Education
- BS degree in Actuarial Science from Lebanon Valley College
Just for Fun
- Avid cyclist - participates annually in the MS Bike Tour, a 2 day bicycle tour to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Scott’s dad usually finishes ahead of Scott.
- They may look more like mother’s day projects but Scott recently began taking ceramics lessons (wheel-thrown pottery) in an effort to discover his artistic side.
